H+DW – a couple from Berlin

We took a shuttle ("sherut" $ 20, - per person) that brought us from Tel Aviv airport Ben Gurion to Beitar St. 22nd in Jerusalem. We were greeted by the property manager who showed us around and familiarized us with everything.

We immediately liked the spacious apartment on the 3rd floor: The light-flooded and spacious living room, the well equipped kitchen, the large bedroom with the wonderful big double bed, washer and dryer ... The apartment is simply perfect for a holiday.
The Internet provided the ideal communication with home and the unique roof top terrace offered a spectacular view of the city. Unfortunately, in November 2011 it was too chilly to dine outside.

The bus connection to the old town is excellent. We reached Hebron St. within 5 walking minutes. There are 4 bus lines at the bus stop taking you to Jaffa Street. For NIS 6.60 ($ 1.65) - the ticket is valid for 1 ½ hours - we could ride to King George V / Jaffa Street, then got on the tram (it runs every 10 minutes) taking us all the way to the New Gate and the Damascus Gate of the Old City.

There we exchanged our money, since the money changers give us a much better rate than in Germany.

At one time, we got off near St. Andrew's Church, then walked up Mount Zion to Dormitio Church, reaching  the Jewish quarter of the Old City 35 minutes later. 

For our daily shopping, we went to the supermarket on Daniel Yanovski Street next to the Medical Emergency Center. Here they had everything we needed. In the supermarket they spoke English and whenever we needed something, there were nice people who helped us. For smaller purchases, we used the convenience market in Ein Gedi Street, about 200 meters from the house.

We enjoyed the wonderful days in Jerusalem so much that we booked the apartment again for the next trip toTalpiot.

Due to its large size, amenities and its location in a nice and quiet residential area, one feels at home in the apartment in a few days. This was the case for us, a family with two children at kindergarten age. The apartment is very well described on the website.

A few tips:
There is a great playground on Barzilai-Street (extension of Carlebach St – adjacent to the house -, just a two minutes’ walk), in the middle of a residential area, thus without loud street noise. In any case, one should definitely visit / explore the large Mahane Yehuda market in the city center. It is open until late in the evening. The goods offered are very diverse, fresh and cheap, for example homemade “Gefilte Fish”. When you carry all those heavy bags and have worked yourself into a sweat, a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice (Rimon) will definitely help. On the south side of Mahane Yehuda (Agripas St.), there are also some good organic food shops and a whole grain bakery. The number 8 bus gets you there; it runs more often than bus no. 7. Who wants to get stress-free, by-passing pushy vendors, to the Kotel (Western Wall) and to the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, is well advised to take the bus. At any rate, it is good to have a good map to explore the city and enjoy the evening by ending the day on the apartment’s beautiful roof terrace.


Good to know: one of the best ways to get cash is to withdraw it from an ATM using an EC card, e.g. Bank Leumi, close by at the corner of En Gedi St. and Derech Hevron

We stayed in Dieter Pukatzki's apartment during Christmas time. It is located in a quiet area sputh of the city center. A supermarket and little corner shops are in walking distance. Also bus station to go to the center of Jerusalem. Walking distance is about half an hour to Jaffa gate. Beitar street is five minutes - walking distance - from the main road and therefore really quite.

The huge terasse on the roof top will be a valuable addition to the well equipped and nice apartment. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, a microwave, fridge and a dishwasher and enables also kosher cooking with separated dishes and fridges! We hope you will enjoy your stay in Jerusalem in Dieter Pukatzki's apartment as we did with our four children during Christmas and New Year eve.

Nice and clean apartment, good location

We had a wonderful time at this apartment. Everything needed was there, nice and quiet area, within walking distance to Promenade overlooking Old City. Max 10 minutes to Old Citiy with private car. (We had a car so we do not know about public transport.) Apartment is fully equipped and clean, air-condition only in living/dining room - one additional fan for the third bedroom would have been nice.


Perfectly equipped with WiFi. Wonderful terrace to enjoy and relax.
Will definitely recommend this apartment (or return ourselves).

Great place for family

Parking in back, the "courtyard" is actually a city street, we managed to keep two cars parked there during our stay, at no cost. Walk thru it to the next street & there is a "makolet" on the corner, with everything. Gas stations available easily. Easy drive/bus to City Center. Walk to Strauss overlook.

Large, airy apartment, lots of light, quiet. Top floor, walk up, a consideration for some but not for us. Neighbor below very helpful in a pinch. Make sure you get directions how/when to use the water heater (instead of solar heated water), clothes washer and drier. All appliances worked. Roof is tiled, large, territorial view of the city, great to have available if you plan to entertain. Would stay there again, would recommend to friends.

We were all very sad to be leaving Israel and going home. The weather was beautiful the day we left and we have had a lovely holiday. Jerusalem is a lovely city and we found Talpiot very quiet and peaceful The view from the promenade is spectacular as you described. Your apartment is very spacious, comfortable and well equipped.

We ad trouble working the cooker [Slowcooker/Crock Pot for Shabbat], though as neither of us are used to electric cookers and as we explained to Avi, perhaps a set of simple instructions would be useful.

We would certainly recommend your apartment and the area to anyone planning to visit Jerusalem. We hope to go to Israel again but don't know when.

In May 2011 we were staying with our family of six for five nights in the apartment of the family Pukatzki . We enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment has a lot of room and good equipment. Jerusalem is a very special place, and the apartment offers a good opportunity for a visit to the city.

Excellent stay

We stayed 6 days and had the best time ever. We were two adult couples and two teenagers. The flat was big and spacious with lots of sunlight. The kitchen was big and equipped ok. It all is newly decorated, and very well maintained. The best thing was the rooftop terrace, where we had breakfast and barbequedinners. Only drawback is the neighbour who has the flat beneath the terrace. He actåed very rude and complained about noise we did not make.

The distance from down-town Jerusalem is not far, and it gives the place a nice sense of being close to town and away from all the noise. It's also in a residential area and again it's also a nice way to explore Jerusalem. There is a big supermarket closeby - approx. 300 meters - but is not the best quality of fresh produce. The café around the corner from the supermarket has the coolest pizzas and icecream (though a bit expensive). Transportwise there is a bus just on the street in front of the flat and also by the supermarket.

Distance to the old town of Jerusalem is within walking distance - 25 minutes and very nice.

Would definitely recommend this place to anybody. And would gladly go back.

My family and I had the great pleasure of living in the apartment on Beitar 22, Talpiot. Our two children aged 1 and 3, enjoyed the apartment, which is large and spacious. We all had very great pleasure on the roof terrace, where we spent morning, noon and evening.

The neighbors in the hallway have seemed approachable and friendly.

The apartment has a lovely location in Talpiot. There are many opportunities for activities for children and adults throughout the day. We took advantage of the many playgrounds in the area and the nearby Kibbutz's swimming pool.
There are excellent eateries within 3 minutes’ walking distance, as well as a supermarket and pharmacy.

The bus stops right outside the door making it easy to get to Jerusalem with the Old City and Ben Yehuda. We also used the many taxis that took us around Jerusalem for very little money.

During our vacation, we have experienced Dieter and his wife as being very helpful, friendly and welcoming, which made ​​our stay a fantastic experience. We will at any time recommend the apartment on Beitar 22 in Talpiot.

We arrived and felt completely at home. It was spacious, clean and just as the website had advertised, which was wonderful! We enjoyed good sleep, good showers and loved being so close to the centre of Jerusalem and the Old City, as well as being close to shops and parks and lovely places to walk.

I particularly enjoyed the huge bay window, giving a beautiful view of the streets below, and the rooftop was a special extra! Dieter was faithfully there for us when we had questions which were much appreciated too!

I enthusiastically recommend the apartment in Jerusalem – a wonderful holiday experience.

We would like to thank Dieter and his family for our one week stay in this comfortable and spacious holiday apartment. Due to the quiet location and the wonderful terrace, we could recover after our long-term sightseeings in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

Everything we needed was available in the apartment. There are several shops next streets and also banks for financial transactions in the Hevron Street. But note Isreali holidays and the Shabbat when many shops, restaurants and banks are closed. You’d better get information about that in advance on the internet.

Booking and payment handling were very easy. Dieter, his grandson and our driver Jürgen were very helpful in managing our stay. Everybody who we had to communicate with was friendly and compliant. This place is highly recommended. Go Israel and you will enjoy cultural contact and historical encounters, just starting from this convenient apartment. Hope to see you all again!

very nice apartment in a beautiful neighborhood. The apartment is clean and spacious. There was plenty of room for our party of four adults and two teenagers. It's a fourth-floor walk-up, which may be a problem for elderly or disabled travelers, but certainly wasn't a problem for us.

The big advantage is that you get exclusive use of the large roof terrace directly above. All the usual amenities are there, including local phone, wireless internet, washer and dryer. The neighborhood is residential and very nice and cozy.

Suffice it to say, you can find kids there walking around by themselves at midnight. At the same time, there are plenty of stores and restaurants within a short walk.The neighborhood is car-friendly and we were able to find parking behind the building every time. The Old City is about 10 minutes away by car. The owner is very pleasant, responsive, accommodating, and easy to deal with.

I can definitely recommend this apartment to others and will put it first on my list for future stays in Jerusalem

We were a group of 5-6 persons staying in Beitar 22 for 8 days, and we had a really great time there! Before we came to Israel, we had all necessary contact with the householder through e-mail.

It was easy to get in contact with the householder, and the contact has been totally free for problems. The apartment was just great for us, and the top-roof-flat made it possible for us to enjoy meals and time outside in a calm environment. We also got to spend some time with some nice neighbors who also lives in the same house.

To get to the Old City we either walked, went by bus or by car. We can absolutely recommend this apartment if you are a group with 6-7 persons, and you want spend some time in Jerusalem.
